BRAL is proud to have achieved and retained Investors in People status since November 2004.
What is Investors in People?
Investors in People (IIP) is one of the most widely respected, challenging and successful business improvement frameworks in the UK. Its success comes from its ability to make an organisation’s people the key to driving continuous improvements. It achieves this by matching people’s abilities and aspirations to the needs of the organisation which benefits the company, its employees and its clients.
How Investors in People works
At the heart of IIP lies a simple idea: the success of every organisation depends on the continuous involvement, improvement and development of its people. No other business tool has such a strong track record in ensuring that people work together to achieve organisational goals. The standard is reviewed regularly to ensure it meets the demands of business today.

What our Assessor said about BRAL in November 2007
The following is a list of characteristics that were highlighted during the course of our site visits, these are recognised as being of good practice or exceeding the requirements of the Investors in People standard: -
- Top Managers clearly regard their people as key to delivering the success the company is striving to achieve. They are committed to investing in developing people’s skills and knowledge both formally (through programmes of internal and external training) and informally (by actively encouraging a culture of mutual support, sharing knowledge and experience and learning from each other). Top Managers are described as operating a “genuinely open door policy” and encourage all staff to contribute ideas and suggestions on how to improve the organisation and its performance.
- There is a clear Mission in place for the organisation – “Providing prompt, efficient and technically excellent, customer focused outsourced accountancy services” – together with clear and measurable Key Performance Indicators to benchmark the company’s success. Both of these have been effectively communicated to everyone within the organisation, all of whom have a clear understanding of the role and part they play in contributing to the company’s achievements
- There is a clear (and genuine) commitment from the top of the organisation to provide a range of high quality development opportunities for everyone within the company, in order for them to continuously improve their skills and knowledge and to deliver the company’s objectives.
- There are highly regarded programmes of both “technical” and “soft skills” training in place, the contents of which are clearly designed to meet the needs of people across the company (these needs being identified either during the annual appraisal process or as and when they become apparent during the year).
- In addition to the formal training programmes, there is a real culture of sharing and mutual support within and across teams, with individuals being actively encouraged to contribute ideas and to share their experience and knowledge in order to improve the performance of colleagues and that of the business as a whole.
